I have been a very busy little girl lately, so I haven't really had
much time to make any plans...thank GOD I've got a long engagement!
Here's what we've got so far :)
Our ceremony will be at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church in
Asheboro, across from the high school, and will be followed by a 12:15
reception at The Exchange Banquet and Meeting Hall on S. Fayetteville
St (No pic of The Exchange, sorry)
We have opted for
traditional piano during our ceremony, and have chosen nontraditional
music. This is our song list for the ceremony:
- Prelude: "Air on the G String", Bach
- Prelude: "Wachet Auf", Bach
- Processional: "Reminiscent Joy", The O'Neil Brothers
- Bride's Processional: "Kissing You: Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet (Instrumental)"
- Ceremony/unity candle: "Lord's Prayer", Unknown
- Recessional: "Ode to Joy", Beethoven
- Still unsure about who will be
playing the piano for our ceremony, but we have asked Gary Hunt to be
the DJ at our reception. We also have selected "God Blessed the Broken Road" by Rascal Flats for our first dance, which will be sung by one of our good friends. I really want to ask a good friend of mine to sing "In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride for my father/daughter dance, if she will do it. We have no clue what to use for our mother/son dance, but are thinking of using either "Mama" by Boys 2 Men, or maybe "Simple Man" the Shinedown version.
Looks as though we are going with Villa Photography
for our pictures, because they do beautiful work and have offered us
the best pricing. Our photography is most definitely going to be our
most expensive vendor, but I'd much rather splurge on our pictures than
anything. We'll have those forever- food and flowers will be gone the
Honeybaked Ham by The HoneyBaked Ham Co,Greensboro
twice baked potatoes by Best Foods INC, Siler City
sourdough yeast rolls from Best Foods INC, Siler City
punch and fountain drinks by Quotables, Asheboro.
We've decided to go with Burge Florist.
Our wedding colors are lavendar and sage, so we are using calla
lillies, lilacs, and stargazers. In my bouquet, we are using lavendar
lillies and pale green stargazers. I am doing a small bouquet for my
MOH, and going with a single lilly for each of the girls. The
boutonnieres will be a lavendar lilly. We plan to put one arrangement
at the altar, with ribbons and sparce flowers on the pews. The church
is so pretty, it doesn't need very many flowers!
For the reception, we have decided to use crystal bud vases (1.43 each at Wal-Mart) and small crystal votive holders with tea lights in them as centerpieces. The bud vases would contain lavendar lillies. This way, they are cheaper than traditional
centerpieces, and the candles will look great with the white table cloths and minimal flowers.
White linen tablecloths are provided by our reception
site, and we can use tulle to decorate the eaves and columns. Very few
flowers, but I'm not getting married in a meadow, and I think too many
flowers are overkill!
This is my favorite part, don't
laugh at me too much. A good friend of my mother and me owns a white
Camaro convertible and has offered to drive us, top down, us sitting on
the back of the car 'beauty queen in parade style' the one block
distance to our reception site! I love it! It isn't too elaborate, it
isn't going to cost me a lot of money, and it fits right in with our
small town wedding! Jason and I just aren't limo people, and this is
perfect for us. If she hadn't offered, we were planning to rent a white
convertible and have a friend drive us.
A lady my aunt knows from work
makes wonderful cakes. She made one of the three cakes at my high
school graduation party!! She has offered to make a basic three tiered
cake for me (no pillars, the cake itself will be tiered), and has
agreed to let me put real flowers (cheaper than sugar flowers) on the
cake. She is also only charging me $.50 a slice, instead of $1.50 or
more like everyone else. We aren't planning to do a groom's cake, so we
can save some $$.

Don't have a picture yet of my veil, but when I do, I will put it up.
the dresses are separates, so they all wouldn't look like
this. each girl chooses the top she likes with this skirt and one of
the colors. 3 girls will purple dresses and the other three will wear
green, and the guys will sport classic black tuxes with ties...NO
BOWTIES. They'd kill me.
Junior Maid: she has already told me she wants to wear purple. she's 7 and VERY particular!!
classic black tuxedos with black vests, tailcoats, and ties instead of bowties.
Well folks, here ya go!! When we finish the plans, I will update this
and let you know all about it!! Comment and let me know what you think,
offer ideas, etc. Thanks!
